It's called A Swim in a Pond in the Rain: In Which Four Russians Give a Master Class on Writing, Reading, and Life. It covers short stories by Chekhov, Turgenev, Tolstoy, and Gogol. The Amazon description says the book is "intended for anyone interested in how fiction works and why it’s more relevant than ever in these turbulent times."
